Hiya!

I’m sorry I’ve been so flaky around here lately.

It’s partly due to this bullcrap they call summer vacation, where kids are asked to stay home from school for unbearable lengths of time and parents are forced to….parent them.

Mostly though, it’s due to the fact that I’ve been lazy.

But, I have been writing some great content elsewhere, and you probably aren’t reading it because you don’t even know it exists. So, to avoid any awkwardness (there may be a pop quiz at the end!) I’ve included links to the articles below.  Now grab that fifth cup of coffee (I’m not the only one that does that, am I?) and settle in for some entertaining, thought-provoking, life-changing content.

Or you could just read my stuff.

*As soon as I began my advice column for OC Moms, I realized how much I loved to boss people around, and after a few months, I convinced my editor to widen my horizons and include any and all questions from readers. So now you can ask my anything, and if I don’t know the answer, I’ll find someone that does and then take full credit for it.  In this week’s edition, Fed Up wrote to tell me about her husband’s inability to multi-task. Check out the sage advice I gave her and let me know what you think. And by “let me know what you think” I mean, agree with me of course!

*Did you know you could get fired by your pediatrician? Patients across the country are being given the boot by doctors who are fed up dealing with parents who refuse to vaccinate their kids. What would you do if your doctor gave you an ultimatum? Have you ever felt bullied into immunizing your child? Would you do things differently if given the chance? Are you annoyed by parents who choose not to vaccinate their kiddos or are you a firm believer that it is a personal choice?  Weigh in; I’d love to hear your thoughts!

*It’s no secret that I struggle with a lot of things, namely simple carbs and spending entire paychecks at Target. But one of my greatest struggles is having to choose between my two sons. Parenting one that has special needs, and one that doesn’t, often puts me in the position where I have to put one before the other. It’s awful, and I hate it, but it is a reality I live with, to some extent, every single day. The fact remains that my special needs son gets special treatment, and I just hope that Ian comes out of it as unscathed as possible.

But just in case he doesn’t, he’s screwed, because I keep leaving his future therapy money at Target.

In other news, Mikey and I had a date night that was super unromantic, and it was exactly what we needed. We spent three hours talking uninterrupted, about budgets and medical interventions and all the elephants in the room that can prey on an otherwise happy marriage and dare I say we could teach congress a thing or two. It was an evening filled with mutual respect and adoration, and there wasn’t a lit candle in sight. We walked away hand in hand, knowing we weren’t going to resolve everything in one night, but content in the knowledge that we are, above all else, partners in life who need to rely on each other to make things work.

Okay. You can barf now.

So that’s been my week in a nutshell (well, more like in a blog post because it would be super hard to fit all of this information in a nutshell).

And remember, if you ever need a shoulder to cry on or a friend to talk to, please find someone else. I’m up to my elbows spending quality time with my children, who, despite my best efforts, continue to love and adore me.

Spread the love

  1. Great blog, and enjoyed your two column pieces as well. The inability to multi-task for my wife is legendary…so she writes me lists…works a treat 🙂
